A delicious Apple Bavarian Torte

This classic European dessert is baked in a springform pan. A rich combination of cream cheese, apples, and sliced almonds makes this the ideal holiday treat for up to 12 servings.

  1. Preheat the oven to 450° F (230° C).
  2. Cream together the butter, sugar, vanilla, and flour to form the crust.
  3. Press the crust mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan. Set aside.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese and sugar. Beat in the egg and vanilla, then pour over the crust.
  5. Mix the apples with sugar and cinnamon, then layer them on top of the cheese mixture.
  6. Bake at 450° F for 10 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 400° F (200° C) and bake for an additional 25 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle sliced almonds over the top and continue baking until lightly golden. Let the torte cool before removing it from the pan.
